Book Description

Finclucky from Kentucky is the story of a chicken, his banjo, and a barnyard full of animal friends who form a band. Even the farmer, who is always working, joins in to enjoy the rhythm-and-blues played by Finclucky and his friends. Some folks say the blues were first played in the deep South, but those who read Finclucky will know the truth behind the music.

Author

Julia Smethurst was born in California and now lives in Kent, England. After more than 18 years working in advertising and launching two fashion-beauty magazines in the UK, Julia earned an MA in History and currently enjoys competitive platform/springboard diving, reading and writing for children, and is a real globe trotter! She is married and has three grown step-children and a twelve-year-old boy of her own named Adam. When asked why she wrote a book based in Kentucky, she often says, “My grandmother was from the South! It’s in my roots...and I realized that Finclucky was the original ‘Dixie Chick!’”
